Our Approach
Every community is different. That’s why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.
At CHIRP, we combine implementation science and practice-based research strategies to ensure public health programs are both grounded in proven strategies and shaped by the lived experiences, priorities, and values of the communities they serve.
Instead of asking communities to adapt to research, we help organizations adapt research to their communities.
- Implementation science is the study of putting research evidence into practice, and understanding how evidence-based programs work in real-world settings. It provides frameworks and tools to help take programs that are shown to work in research, tailor them to local needs, and put them into action, to improve community health outcomes and reduce health inequities.
- Practice-based research prioritizes evidence from real-world application and lived experience. Health practitioners are experts of their communities. Their knowledge, experience, and ideas are what keep programs running. Practice-based research uses scientific methods to generate evidence from the ground up, and help embed practitioner and community voices into health programs and practice.
Community-Led
Building Lasting Impact
The people closest to a community are the ones who best understand what that community needs.
That’s why we prioritize community leadership and practice-based research throughout our work. By listening to community members and learning from practitioners’ day-to-day experiences, we help organizations develop services that are not only evidence-based but also relevant, culturally responsive, and practical.
Our goal isn’t simply to launch successful programs; it’s to help organizations build systems that continue to work long after implementation begins.
Together, we design, test, evaluate, and refine health programs so they can evolve alongside community needs and create lasting improvements in health outcomes and equity.
